  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In consulting, we have the role of an Analyst and do the same job as those on the Graduate scheme. This involves supporting projects big and small in a wide range of industry or Deloitte's internal customers. This can be anything from booking drafting client deliverable to setting up meetings

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Both tech and people skills. You are given lots of training and support at the start that aim to develop your key consulting skills. You will learn how to create Power Point presentations to high standards, give presentations, run workshops and interact with clients. Lots of the learning is on the job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy it! The work is very interesting while challenging. I can get very busy however I enjoy those times (To a point). Most of the people are lovely and always happy to help. There are lots of events to go to if you want to meet people / learn something new.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The training provider has a well structured programme that helps you with your studying and engages with you. However there is not much interaction between the work we do and the academic work. This isnt a problem however does reduce the benefits of an apprenticeship. The work we do is unique so this is challenging.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is extremely supportive! I have a great support network to use / fall back on when I need it from both my project work and apprenticeship work. I do find that my study time can be consumed by project meetings or commitments etc. I feel that they do well however.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from the training provider. They give lots of feedback on all my assignments and course work and I can reach out to my tutor remotely at any time which is very helpful. Some people may not like the remote working however it works for me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Not really. I feel like the content we cover is useful but not essential to the role we do. Business writing is helpful but is not taught specifically. I do feel this is the same with many apprenticeships however as a lot of the content is very generic and not specific to the day 2 day work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Lots of opportunities for professional networking / learning more about the work that Deloitte do. These can be very interesting and a great way to meet new people. They also put on some good social events that are fun however still a corporate event so be careful! Not that many formal sports teams.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great alternative to university if you feel you would learn better by doing the work instead of just learning the theory. I really enjoy the work and working with some great teams. It is a personal choice so make sure it is the right one for YOU.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Research the work that Deloitte do. (Go on the website, Google search, Social media etc.) Apply as early as possible and make sure that you are honest in the interview process. Make sure you prepare before the online assessments!! Especially if you struggle with verbal or mental reasoning. Good luck!
