Manage the cost control of the job, pay the subcontractors and do the application up to the client. Keep records and go on site to build my M&E knowledge.
I have developed my excel skills, and my knowledge of construction and how projects are run/completed.
I really have enjoyed the programme, I think it’s good for when you are young. The people at Skanska are very friendly and approachable.
The programme is not very well run, there isn’t really any structure to it, it’s luck of who your manager is and how interested they are in your development. Also when you complete the programme it’s not managed very well.
I have received a lot of support from my managers and my colleagues but from higher up management I wouldn’t say they are very involved in the apprenticeship scheme.
It can help you in some areas to understand the theory of practice and give you an insight to things you haven’t got exposure from.
Not that I am aware of.
Yes
I would recommend Skanska because it’s a lovely place to work however if you’re looking for big opportunities and support I would advise looking at other more developed apprenticeship schemes within the industry.
Ensure that you get expose to all areas of the business to see what job role suits you best. Make sure that there is a structured plan in place for the 5 year apprenticeship.
