  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a telecoms engineer I install and repair phone lines and internet on a daily basis

    9/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have learnt lots of new skills

    9/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I did not enjoy the nvq experience whatsoever, I found the coursework tedious and irrelevant in many situations. I found it difficult to get useful feed back from my assessor and felt that a lot more could have been done to enhance and simplify the whole experience. The practical side of the nvq was adequate however (buddying etc)

    2/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I found the programme to be poorly structured and believe a lot more practical work would be beneficial as oppose to the written work that was a lot of the time not applicable to the job role.

    3/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I found the support to be lacking, Nvq sessions were cancelled due to work stack being high, replacement days were not given until after my end of year date. I had to email my assessor multiple times to try and ensure that my Nvq was completed on time, which it was not.

    3/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I don't believe I had any support from my training provider.

    3/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The nvq I received is crucial to the role of a telecoms engineer but I believe a more practical approach to the training would be beneficial.

    7/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Non that I am aware of

    3/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • As a company they are mostly good to work for. My immediate management have been exceptional in helping to provide a good working environment whilst prioritising customer experience.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Focus on customer interaction.
