  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day-to-day basis, I will typically be involved with work that falls under one of two fields: Trading and Planning. Trading roles involve interacting with Sales teams and ensuring my local portion of the company are driving to meet their target revenue figures. Planning roles involve liaising with Propositions teams and capturing progress on new and existing opportunities that will be used by the Sales teams.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of skills in this role, and I've also had the chance to refine skills I had previously learnt. First of all, Excel is a software that I use frequently in my role, so I have been able to develop my ability using Excel and learn more of the useful features. Additionally, I have learnt a lot of analytical skills through writing reports and analysing customer behaviour.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Whilst the programme started off unfavourably due to reorganisation and a lack of direction, the programme has since improved and made the programme a lot more enjoyable. The content of work I am involved in has been favourable and I am beginning to become exposed to a lot more areas of the business.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As previously mentioned, the beginning of the programme started off poorly organised. Since then, I have taken action to attempt at gaining some improvements on this front. While there has been some notable changes, it is still not at the level of organisation where I'd be content with. This applies for both HR involvement with my career as well as Uni course organisation.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support comes in may forms, and most of the outlets are very supporting when I am in need of assistance. My Apprentice coach is always on hand to answer any questions I have, as well as my line manager being there to assist me with any issues. Both of these methods of support typically are actively checking up on me too which is great.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • While the time taken to receive support can be long in some circumstances, typically the help received is beneficial. With specific reference to the course content, the support is typically useful and explained in a manner that is understandable. However there have been instances where there has been a lack of support, though this is in the process of being worked on now.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The course we are studying as part of this programme does not actually have any correlation to my role in the organisation. Whilst it does help me understand certain terminology and be able to develop a more technical outlook on the company's products, the bulk of what I am learning through this qualification I will never use again.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The team run social events quite frequently after work hours, be that small get-togethers after work or full-day team meetings which incorporate various social activities. Other than this, there is not much that is readily available or offered. I'm sure there are some out there, but not only are they not promoted well enough, but they also tend to be localised for teams, and not all-inclusive company activities.
