  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an Internal Sales Executive. On a day to day basis this involves making and recieving phone calls to talk with our customers. It is my job to assist customers with any queries they may have and to make sales. I also send quotations to customers, attend training sessions and help customers contacting us via webchat.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills and also developed skills I already had. I have had opportunites to develop my presentation skills especially in the first month of the course when we were presenting frequently. I have developed communication skills on the phone and via email through practise and experience. On our outward bound course I also had the opportunity to develop many other skills like leadership, teamwork and resillience through multiple activities.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Very much. I feel valued by Tech Data and have had a lot of time invested in me. I feel that my manager and the company in general cares about my goals and wants me to have a successful career. If I ever have any concerns or queries I know that there are always people who can help.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured overall, there is time avaliable for us to complete our apprentice work. What we do on the programme is also well planned, for example our outward bound course was placed earlier in the course (December) because it is more beneficial for us to take it earlier in the programme.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I recieve lots of support from my training provider when working towards my qualifications. I have frequent visits from my development coach where I recieve feedback on the work I have done and have the opportunity to ask for any support or raise any concerns I have. The development coach also handles any safeguarding issues I may face.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps when talking about IT products as we have a better understanding of the basics of IT. Other than that a lot of what we learn in our CompTIA course for example doesn't always seem relevant. I think the qualification is a good thing to have despite this.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have a few activities to get involved in like the social club for example. In addition to this we have a Tech Data Christmas party that everyone is invited to. Finally we have Tech Data live which is a professional networking event. We were not able to attend however due to our apprentice training.

  • 9a. Would you recommend TD SYNNEX to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Tech Data is a great place to work. It is a good place to start your career due to all the opportunites for progression that will be avaliable to you. The apprentice program is a great way to get your name around the business and to gain the relevant experience needed to succeed.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TD SYNNEX?
  • Stay on top of the apprentice work and always try your best in everything you do. Always speak to your manager about any issues you have too because they will most likely be able to help you out. You should also make sure you are well prepared for the outward bound course, especially if you go in the winter.
