  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is constantly changing. I spend a lot of my time researching topics which are current in the industry, and feedback this to my manager in the form of a briefing document. I have regular contact with international colleagues to help deliver the companies international communications activities. I also support the external communications, which includes the management of a social media channel.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • This is my first time working in a corporate industry, and I have learnt many invaluable skills in my time here so far. Working towards my Digital Project Admin qualification, I have really improved on my Excel and PowerPoint knowledge. I have also developed my writing skills, learning how to tailor my writing to suit different audiences.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At the beginning of my apprenticeship, my apprenticeship provider was going through some internal changes which meant that it wasn't as organised as I'd hoped for. Since attending my induction, it has felt a lot more structured. I meet with my apprentice mentor once a month to go over any queries I may have, and attend training sessions monthly which cover a variety of topics. In house at Warner Bros., I have attended many training sessions which have been incredibly structured, and I have the opportunity to attend many more.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive constant support from my employer and feel very valued here. My manager has set up multiple workplace shadowing sessions in various departments to allow me to experience other roles, and learn more about Warner Bros. as a business. The HR team are incredibly supportive, and easy to access in times of need.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I meet with my training provider once a month to go over any coursework I have completed, as well as any issues I may have. They are easy to contact and fast to respond if I ever have any queries, which makes me feel very supported. They also have sessions you can attend if you need any support with coursework, or just a quiet space to complete your coursework in.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification helps me to perform better in my role by providing me with essential skills and knowledge in training sessions, as well as in the modules which I complete for coursework. When I attend training sessions, I am meeting and interacting with people from a variety of different backgrounds, industries and roles, and this helps me learn new skills and improve my communication.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Warner Bros. has lots of events throughout the year which anyone can get involved in. Since joining, I have been invited to networking drinks, lunch and learns, games nights, and many other activities. The Apprentice/Intern team here is very sociable, who regularly go out for drinks, meals and events (crazy golf, bowling, etc).

  • 9a. Would you recommend WarnerMedia to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Warner Bros. is a really exciting and enjoyable place to work, and each day is different. I have developed personally and professionally since working here, and experienced things which I wouldn't have at any other company. Being an apprentice here is a great opportunity to network and get into the entertainment industry.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WarnerMedia?
  • Apply for a role that you're passionate about, otherwise you'll struggle during the application process. Try to not be daunted by the assessment day, the atmosphere isn't as scary as you'd expect and HR/Recruitment try to make you as comfortable and confident as possible. Don't be disheartened if you don't get it this time around, it's nothing personal and there will be plenty of opportunities to apply in the future.
