  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day I built orders required for out 100G project . I have meetings each day to show progress and work through the priority list we have. When we run into problems we update this on the calls and progress the jobs accordingly. Some days we go though training with other people too.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, we rotate teams frequently so we are constantly gaining new skills. I have been able to gain , customer service skills , communication skills whilst I was on my previous team . I have also gained skills and knowledge about the networking world. All these skills have been important in me progressing.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the program as its given me a lot of varied opportunities and I've been able to see so many different parts of BT that I wasn't able to see before. Also I have been able to connect with lots of different people and make new friends.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our programme is very well structured it has always been very clear what is needed from us and where we can go if we need any help for anything. Our apprentice coaches are always happy to help us and advise us on what we need to complete next so that we are always organised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My Employer has a lot of different resources that provide help and guidance for us. We get a lot of support from our management and have a lot of people to talk to if we need. As we have many different apprenticeship programs in our work we have a lot of online information given to us about them.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive support as we attend diploma workshop sessions and nvq sessions where we sit with our assessor and go through everything that we need to complete. My assessor helps with any of my issues. When we were completing our IT Diploma the teachers helped us with any issues.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has helped me understand about the wider world of networking . I can apply this to my everyday role and am grateful that I have an understanding of why my job is needed in the IT networking space. I think this helps me to perform better in my every day role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Since being at this apprenticeship ive had the opportunity to get involved with sports events ( rugby ,WWE) . Ive been able to have networking events with various employees that have had long successful careers in BT. There are some social aspects we have in our office like our Christmas events however im keen to get involved in more activities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It has been a great experience being at BT , they have a lot support for young apprentices trying to become successful . I think I have gain so many skills that I will be able to benefit my future career. There are also so many career opportunities I BT so you have option to try different things.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • I would advise people to make the most of the opportunities that you get and I would also make sure that I collect evidence of all the different things ive been involved with during the length of the apprenticeship. Its good to get your foot in the door then you can start to learn everyday.
