I undertake roles and responsibilities that qualified and time served fitters do. I do servicing and inspections and I also attend breakdowns. I am trusted to cover my area when other fitters are on nights. I also go on nights which entails covering either one site or multiple sights incase of a breakdown.
since finishing my apprenticeship I have learnt so much more job specific things since finishing college as college is there to lay the foundations of your learning. I have also developed my welding as I weld near enough every week. I have learnt how to deal with people/customers as I have to deal with them when attending breakdowns.
I really enjoyed my time at stafford college. the tutors where extremely easy to learn from and where approachable. the theory side was intense but was the right amount before you lost interest and the practical side was well organised and covered an array of different practical assignments which could be transferred across different plant jobs.
the structure of the course was really well put together. we always knew when we were at college over the year. whilst at college we had a plan for the bloke which was even down to theory and practical. Additional information/classes were available if you asked to further your learning.
Not a great deal. I have received no help from my employer throughout my apprenticeship. I was put on the wrong course for the first year Which put me back a year of my development. also there is no structure in place throughout the apprenticeship and no structure for when you qualify.
loads of support if you were stuck then the training provider would give you lots of advice and would take the time to explain things in a simple way. also if you had any issues regarding the scheme or work they were willing to listen to you and sort things out
extremely well it has given me confidence in my own ability and has provided me with a foundation to learn and develop. it has shown/taught me the basics in everything that I need to know in relation to my job. also showing me the importance of paperwork in our line of work
not that I'm aware of or that I have been notified about
