  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a wide variety of skills including communication, teamwork, working to my own initiative and technical skills such as networking, project management and cooperating with engineers in the field. I did not have networking skills before this and so I value the knowledge that BT has allowed me to gain.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really do enjoy my programme as it gives me the chance to really make the most of any opportunity that comes along. This can be in volunteering, or in the office where I am encouraged to gain a broad set of skills and gain experience in many areas of the business.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well organised and I always feel that I am getting the support I need by my employer. The University of Suffolk has had some issues with organisation but we are currently working on getting these issues resolved so hopefully soon our experience will be considerably better.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive plenty of support from my training provider and I am able to reach out to any members of faculty should I have questions. However as of late there has been some poor organisation on the course and so it has been a little bit more difficult to reach people.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helps me to have a better understanding of networks from the ground up. This means that all of the work I do in my qualification informs my work and I am able to see how it links together and makes me better at what I do. It also means I am able to learn more quickly as I have a foundation of knowledge.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of extra curricular activities that we can get involved in, from a gym on-site to a variety of clubs including sailing, karate, running clubs and many more. There is also plenty of opportunity for socials and getting out and about to bond with your team, which is important at a company like BT.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend BT to a friend because it is an incredibly positive work environment and I feel lucky to work here. People are very understanding and accepting of new ideas and new team members, and the opportunity to earn money as you earn a qualification is really unrivalled. It is also a great way to begin a lifelong career.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • I would advise people to be themselves and throw themselves into any opportunity that comes there way. Everybody at BT is really welcoming and wants to help you to excel and do your best and so it is important to make the most of this and strive to push your boundaries.
