Student Review

Overall my week at Colt, comprised of meeting specific staff from different departments. This meant my group could experience and discover every single aspect of the company. However, we would also be given tasks by our supervisor. At the end of the experience, we were to come up with one idea to help the company. There was a prize for the winning idea.

Personally I felt I walked away with improved skills in public speaking. A lot of our tasks required us to speak and express our ideas, sometimes in front of important people of the company. Further, we had also been taught small skills that everyday working people do such as, simply how to give a proper handshake.

I would say that I really enjoyed my week at the company, as it was during summer and i didn't really have much going. Moreover, it was my first time actually entering a big company, and mixing with the staff and learning the way the company works was really an eyeopener.

As I did my work experience at a very big company, it was no surprise the staff organized such a neat and well-thought-out experience. The schedules and timetables were always followed and it felt everything was done at the right amount. In general, everything was clear and there was simply no confusion.

I think its safe to say, that from day one I could tell the company were very caring about their staff. Everyone looked happy and one of the main goals of the company was to abolish the use of paper and keep the company harm free. Overall I would love to work there and wouldn't worry about anything.

Even though my experience at Colt was beneficial, I still feel I haven't got the right amount of info to properly make a decision about what I plan to do in the future. However, I do know for a fact that I would like to work somewhere similar to Colt.

No. My group wasn't paid for the experience as we were just there to see the works of a big company and experience the life of a working person. However, there was a small prize at the end to award the best students of a particular task we had done.

Meeting other employees was one of the things we did most. The organizers would call a few employees every day to give us a talk and tell us what they did at the company. They were all from different departments which meant we learned a lot and discovered different parts of the company.

Yes

This was the first time I had done any work experience, however from what I know Colt did a really good job of giving us a great week from which we learned loads. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, over working in a small company and not leaning much.

Just to be confident and try to prevent yourself from getting nervous. Furthermore, to just have fun and get along with everyone, because these opportunities don't come often and you should take the full opportunity and go for it. Lastly, you will definitely enjoy your time and want to go back after leaving.
