  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As an IT Technical Sales Apprentice, my role consists of being one of the main contacts that the customer encounters with Tech Data. I have to always be able to assist the customer with any queries they may have and if I am unable to provide a solution by myself, I will seek out help from other people within the business to solve the issue and to provide good customer satisfaction whilst doing so.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Throughout the apprenticeship I have gathered a lot of skills since starting in September. I have always been quiet and lacked self-confident when placed in new environments. However since starting my confidene has grown immensely as Tech Data has given me opportunities to push myself out of my comfort zones. At the start of the apprenticeship we would present alot so it helped me to become more comfortable when speaking in public and now I can present with more ease, which helps me when I am calling out to customers.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have highly enjoyed the programme as I feel like the programme has helped me grow as an individual and given me skills I feel like I wouldn't have learnt at college. The apprenticeship provides the ability for you to gain experience within the field you're interested and also provides further training for you to be able to move around the business successfully.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship programme was very well organised. I always knew where I was going and at what time as I would recieve notifications regarding my activities for the day. Also I like how the programme was structured as I wasn't on the phones too soon so I was able to be get ahead on my paperwork. Furthermore I enjoyed the Outward Bound Trip as I learnt alot about myself on the trip and I wished it was earlier on in the programme as it would've helped me progress sooner.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer always works hard to ensure that me and my team recieve the best support in all aspects of the apprenticeship. My employer supported me when at the start I was worried because I felt like I didn't know as much as the other apprentices but she made me feel more confident in my abilities.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider has helped me alot as they have given me a great coach, who is able to answer any questions I may have regarding my apprenticeship work. The coach has always made it easy for me to reach out and they always give me concise comments for me to be able to improve my personal statements.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Personally I think that Natural Training has helped me the most within my role as it has provided me with tools of how to handle difficult situations that you could get when on the phone, improving your sale skills. Also the knowledge that you gain from each session can be carried over to your daily life not only your work life.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are multiple extra- curricular activities that you could get involved in, such as Elevate, team days out and our Financial Year End. Currently, I am not apart of any extra- curricular activities, however I would consider taking one up if any of them sparked an interest for me.

  • 9a. Would you recommend TD SYNNEX to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Tech Data to a friend as it is a great company that I enjoy working for. Everyone is very supportive and friendly towards one another throughout the business. Furthermore the business is large so it is very easy to move around to develop your career further and gain experience.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TD SYNNEX?
  • My advice would be to embrace everything during the apprenticeship as everything you learn helps to devolp yourself and to jump start your career in sales. If you embrace everything and work as hard as you can, the programme will be so much more enjoyful for you- don't do the bare minimum.
