  • Different placements every three months relating to the build of the Astute and Dreadnought reactor compartment. Determining processes, writing documents, attending meetings and participating in various activities.

  • Yes lots of MS skills that needed refining. Lots of analytical methods and skills related to nuclear engineering.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The majority of it is very enjoyable although it can be very challenging in such a complex and busy environment, getting the necessary support for certain activities

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The nuclear scheme is extremely well organised with regular forums, meetings and a placement tracker to keep everyone updated

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A considerable amount from early careers and our functional leads. Placements can be a dependant on the team and the amount of work they are dealing with at the time.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A very good level of support with slight improvements that could be made to the structure and delivery of certain modules

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Some learning has been applicable to the working environment; and my general knowledge of the nuclear industry has been greatly improved through my qualification.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes. If you are interested there are many teams and clubs. There are also a lot of facilities in the area that you can use during breaks, etc.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • There are massive benefits from the scheme I am working on with very few drawbacks. It is a challenging scheme but well worth it.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Be committed and determined and you will do well here.
