  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Supervisor to staff delivering activities to high needs service user's involving Coordinating, mentoring, delivering, outstanding levels of services to service users and associated staff. This involves planning day to day creating weekly programmes and incorporating cultural,spiritual, objectives, local communities and social engagements whilst promoting well being and working with multi disciplinary teams to enrich peoples lives.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Having just completed my HSC level 5 I have built upon my healthcare experience as a former team leader care worker and activities Supervisor able to combine this experience to maximize the impact that I can have towards enriching some one else's life.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am able to be creative and develop my skills further. I have the full support of my peers seniors and executives. I am and feel confident and privileged to be successful and surrounded by good people. The challenge was there but so was the reward and I absolutely enjoyed each challenge and the feeling of empowerment at each step upon completion of each question.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programmes are well structured and organized which includes having a plan b incase my service users wish to do something totally different. I consult with my end users and allow them to shape the day. My programmes are also information gatherers which help me gather live feedback quickly which enables me to adapt quickly to overcome any problems.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is fully supportive of me. They hear me and they listen and they do their best to fully engage and understand they are sometimes a strange bunch but absolutely amazing and fully supportive which is why we achieved outstanding for our service users.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Encouraged, Inspired, well led, cheerful, real, support has been amazing and through it all has been a beacon of light which has shone brightly and guided me to a qube learning experience of success and elation.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My performance is so much more in my role. As much as being able to have the confidence to stand up when all others may crumble, I can stand up and deliver a qualified statement which encourages people to listen and later act upon. Where as before the cultural differences would have done everything in their power to maintain the old ways which evidently did not achieve the outstanding levels that I am helping to achieve of late.

  • There are several networking opportunities through on line professional also social events are offered

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Strong management team. Dedicated care team passionate about their work. Excellent training opportunities. Encourage employees to develop further.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sue Ryder?
  • Be open minded. Please dont follow bad habits, keep developing one self to avoid complacency. Let the service users be your teachers. Be broad minded but you can look forward to working with an amazing team of people.
