  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is a stocker. The main task that i do is to move stock around the warehouses so that there is the right amount of parts in the right place. I have to interact with planners both in the luton warehouse but also in 4 other warehouses in different countries so you get to talk to a lot of people. I am responsible that the stocking is done every week. As well as being a stocker I have various smaller jobs such as the KVS list which is where I have to prioritise which parts are going to be delivered quicker than others, this is based on things such as the number of customers waiting for parts and if there are any veichles that are off the the road waiting for these parts. As well as this there are also plans to give me more roles and responsibilities to take on.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have hugely improved my computer skills as stocking requires me to use a computer for all of my tasks and so using it everyday I have grown used to new software's and systems that I wouldn't have used otherwise.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy it because I'm doing proper work that effects the business as much as my colleagues works does, i didn't expect this and thought they would give us some work that was not relevant to the company so if there was any problems then it wouldn't matter.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Stellantis?
  • Everyone that I have come into contact in the business has been extremely helpful and nice and willing to go out of their way to see that you are doing alright. Vauxhall also offers benefits for working for them like discounts on cars which makes me feel valued because I am an apprentice and getting benefits that other employees that have worked here for years get.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprentice role that I am in is on that has been going for a year already. This meant that the roles and tasks that I needed to do were already set out immediately. There was also a 1 and a half week handover period where the old apprentice in this department taught me all I needed to know about the job that I would be doing for the next year.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training that I received was mainly done in the handover period which I talked about previously, the training was very good and has meant that I was able continue without the assistance of the old apprentice without a hitch. The company also offers training such as safe driving training so that if the company needs you to go to other locations you can borrow a company car and this is the same with all equipment that the company needs you to use, it will train you to use them. Other than this training I am not sure what other training I will receive other than that when I move into a new department.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is tones of support from the company if you need it, all of the staff are really good and there if you need them. You can go to loads of different people such as your mentor, your line manager, the Adecco staff and HR.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary that Vauxhall offers is really competitive and is definitely a big benefit of working for them, without it the journey that I have to do to work everyday would be costing me money. At the moment I am living with my parents so the wage is really good and provides me with enough money to save and money to spend if need be.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The company holds lots of activities for employees can take part in if they wish to such as five a side football, going to watch England football games because they are the home nations sponsors and lots of other opportunities.

  • 9. Would you recommend Stellantis to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • its a great company to work for

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Stellantis?
  • Keep trying if you are not successful first time. Some of the people who got offered apprenticeships this year are people who got turned down the previous year and it just shows you how they admire if you keep on trying.
