  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Drafting forms is my main task. Sometimes drafting letters and other forms of documents. Printing and scanning from time to time. I have plenty of internal courses either aimed at apprentices specifically which are meant to aid me at the outset of the programme or alternatively those which are open to the whole firm and allow further progression.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • definitely developed time management and my organisational skills. Skills that I have learnt are definitely drafting different forms and documents. Keeping up with different software's that we use on the daily for time keeping, task management and other tasks. I have also developed my confidence in making decisions as well as calling various people on the phone to discuss matters.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much enjoy the programme. It helps me develop my personal skills, gain a whole lot of various experience, and also meet new people in the office. People are very nice and approachable, and always willing to help out whenever you are struggling. There is an extensive support network for whatever you might need help with too. We get a lot of feedback very often from our supervisor which also helps you to grow.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • From the outset we are told which rotations we are doing where and when. We are given all of the necessary information in booklets, but if anything gets misplaced you can always find help with our supervisor. Each rotation lasts 6 months and they happen between 3 different teams, meaning one rotation is a year long. If there are any changes we are informed about them in our team meetings. Overall very organised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • there is plenty of support. All the co-workers are happy to help out with anything whenever needed. My supervisors is also very helpful and keeps us updated with all the changes to the course and so on. We have monthly 1-2-2s during which we are given feedback on our performance amongst other things. We have team meetings allowing wider conversation. If there is any problem we can arrange a meeting with the supervisor to resolve it at any time.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We are given all of the necessary materials straight away before we start our course. We have dedicated people who we can contact any time whenever we want to discuss our problems on the academic side of things or problems at work if any such arise. We are also provided with contacts relevant for issues with mental health etc for our aid when we need them.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Studying law while working in a law firm slowly helps me unveil all of the smaller things that I have been missing so far. It broadens my view about what I am doing while it also aids my understanding of the job roles of other people I work with. I get more insight into the processes happening ion my workplace and what happens after my work has been done as well as prior to my part.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is countless opportunities we can get involved in. Starting with the CSR, Diversity and Inclusivity groups, Social clubs and sports groups. Each of the following organise events allowing us to network and have fun. Apart from that we are organising plenty of firm wide events which bring everyone closer when we are having fun.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is definitely a huge opportunity. It is very helpful and the amount of experience gained is amazing. Everyone wants you to perform at your best so you can progress further with your work, and your efforts are really appreciated. In the second part of the course which is the Solicitor Apprenticeship, those showing particular inclination to succeed can get a promotion to Senior Solicitor Apprentice meaning higher responsibilities and also pay.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner?
  • Definitely being prepared is key. Being certain of yourself wanting to do this course will also help you show to the employer that you are willing to start and eager to grow. Positive outlook and a big smile aloes will make for an advantage. As much as grades count, the personality is also very important and if all you are focusing on is getting the result while not investing in your own personal growth you should start to look at how to grow your profile of skills too.
