  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In the area I am currently in the day to day basis I am involved in is taking calls from customer to discussed payment that have been missed or showing as outstanding. as well as taking calls I am also calling out to customers to try and take payments for missed rentals. on the calls essentially my job is to either take the full payment of the missed amount or to set an arrangement for the customer to pay it back over a period of time

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely learnt many skills while on this apprenticeship as well as developing any I already had. confidence is the main development I have made while being on the apprenticeship as I was a very shy person but it has definitely brought me out of my shell to become confident and assertive around people as well as taking calls. you learn many transferrable skills which will help later in life and outside of work in general.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme I am on it has helped me to develop a lot as a person and give me that inside view on working life as well as the financial sector. it also gives many opportunities to branch out and meet new people building contacts the whole time period. the only bad side to the apprenticeship I have seen is the training company who lack the ability to properly manage their side of this scheme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say within the work place it is very structured and organised, making sure I have the necessary and allocated time weekly to do my apprenticeship work. also in making sure that I have the necessary resources when moving area structuring it so theres isn't confusion when I move to a new place. again the only downfall falls to the training company who aren't organised or structured enough to reply to emails within 2 weeks but that is no fault to VWFS as a company.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support throughout my time here. whenever I needed the extra help the necessary people are always there to help with any work, and if any extra training is needed team leaders make sure time is made within my schedule to allow me to train to develop and improve.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • as the training providers only come on a monthly basis you don't really receive much support from them so I usually look to the year above apprentices for assistance or other people in the business. they have gotten better since last year with replying to emails and getting back with assistance although the assistance they do give is quite vague and not the most helpful. I wold prefer some better feedback for coursework when handing it in as well as seeing what it would be marked as against the mark scheme although that is never feedback.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe that it helps me perform better due to the fact that what I am learning through my qualification can be applied to each job role I have been in. learning about regulatory process and products allows me have more knowledge when taking calls and backing up/refreshing the knowledge I already have on them.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there is always some form of activity or events going on at VWFS which is why I have enjoyed my time so much here as it isn't a simple boring office job where you come in sit down do work and go home, there is always something to do something exciting to engage yourself in. it makes the work fun to do with prizes and general activities as well as interesting events that help give overviews of possible other areas of the business and what the business is doing for the future.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Volkswagen Financial Services to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would highly recommend VWFS to a friend the support and the work they do to make sure all employees enjoy coming into work everyday and have all the necessary help when they need is amazing. there are so many other perks to the business and so much opportunity for improvement development and to learn new skills.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Volkswagen Financial Services?
  • I would recommend making sure that you are confident enough to take calls from customer as this is a inbound call centre as well as doing some research into the business before hand to get some initial knowledge so you can progress quickly. there are many perks to working here whether its money off gym memberships and loan vehicles to perks of having the facility to learn new skills such as on powerpoint or excel or aspirations to lead.
