  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Administration tasks such as creating documents, data input, dealing with enquiries, photocopying, financial tasks such as creating orders, manage administrative functions, managing office apprentices, supporting meetings and other managers with in the department, basic HR tasks, support apprentices through the enrolment process, sending email and making phone calls, liaising with other departments with in the organisation.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • While being at Telford College I have increased in confidence and been able to expand my learning by progressing from my level 3 Business Admin to my level 4 Business Admin and I am hoping to further my management skills and understanding by completing a level 5 apprenticeship in management.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy researching and gaining more in depth knowledge about my chosen career path. I also like the opportunities given to me as I have access to other areas of the organisation allowing me to complete my the off the job training allowing me to progress in my career.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme I am on is well organised allowing me to complete units that fit in with my job role. My training partner is on hand to help me with any area I am unsure on and I have the flexibility to complete tasks by using my suited learning style.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Within my organisation I have both a work mentor and a line manger that support me through my employment and apprenticeship. They ensure that I have time to complete my off the job training and NVQ work. I know that they are always on hand if I need to ask for more support or have any questions.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I see my training provider about ever 4 weeks. I am also able to contact them via phone or email if needed. If I am ever unsure about what I need to go they talk me through the criteria of what needs to be covered. I also receive feedback on all my work that I upload to the e-portfolio.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualification I am on helps me perform better in my role as it is giving me more insight and in depth knowledge into different areas that I deal with. I am able to relate my work back to different things with in my NVQ and it is broadening my understanding.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my organisation there are lots of events that I am able to be involved in allowing me to network with others. There are also team well being walks where staff from across the organisation can attend and socialise/network. There is also certain times that only staff can assess the gym.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Telford College to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend this company because of the support I have received from the college as both an apprentice and an employee. It is always striving forward and building its reputation and is forward thinking. Working here I feel valued, supported and safe. The company is allowing me to reach my potential and still push myself.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Telford College?
  • It is always good practice to research the company you are wanting to work for. Having some knowledge of further education may help. Remaining positive and having a can do attitude is also good. Allow room for personal and professional growth show a willing to learn and gain knowledge and understanding
