  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I help to produce drawings for enginneres, and i help with small calculation work, look at anailisying as builts and help find solutions to issues. I also help out with mark ups if people need an extra hand on jobs to change the drawing/ model.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • CAD skills, presentation, excel, formal communication, Level 3 in civil engineering and the build enviroment, rail technology, building frames, foundations, microstation, FME.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it both college and work. the people our supportive in my work, give costructive advice, make me aware on how to improve, point out my good work, help me to become the best technician i can.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • i was given and induction as an apprentice ran within our company, i was also given a induction to my college course and they run reviews to see how we are getting on in work and in college.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i have a apprentice manager who looks after us well andf helps us with any course problems. I have a mentor that checks my work and teaches me how to do things in detail.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have reviews that check run through EDR checks, make sure who we know who to go to if we need support. We have atutor that checks in on us and knows if we need more support. I enjoy it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • We learn in detail what we need for our qualifications and it can reflect well in the work place. I have been able to learn about BIM and apply it into my work. the college teaches me the things working can't but i can apply it in work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • we have a sports commity run by people in our office, we have a charity one, social one, we take part in lunchtime board games. we have a gym benifit, we have a yearly football tournament worldwide.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Arup to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The training is really good and the benifits as an apprentice are good, being paid to learn and work and come out with a strong qualification.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
  • Be yourself but stand out, The gorup task put yourself forward to lead, Ask questions, bring something you have made to the interview, show you are creative
