  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

    • I am a lab analyst in the physical properties department of the pharmaceutical section. My daily job involes testing compound using the following techniques: DSC, TGA, surface area, IR, X-ray diffraction, microscopy, SEM, particle sizing, shear cell, tapped bulk density and a few others i have not used yet.

    • Yes, please see overview of role. I have learnt all of these techniques within a year aswell as many other skills gained from working in a large company.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

    • GlaxoSmithKline gives a lot of support and my team and managers are willing to help with anything they can. Unfortunatley, the FdSc chemistry course I am taking is poorly organised. However due to the support of GSK I am managing to stay on top of the work.

    • The salary is excellent with set pay rises every year on top of the usual pay rise.

    • Yes, GSK run many schemes to move people around the company. There are also opportunity presented to move abroad with GSK.
