  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As I have only been at the company for 5 months my role includes assessing subcontractor applications, going out on site to undertake measures and the upkeep and maintenance of the subcontractor folders to ensure all correspondence is kept up to date and in the correct place.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to do take-offs (both by hand and on the computer), I have improved massively on my excel skills and knowledge and I have also learnt a lot through the university course which will be helpful throughout my career.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme I am on! It's very interesting and the people that I work with are always there to lend a hand if you ever need it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured in my opinion as there is plenty of training to help you understand the different software used. It also helps having a study day once a week to catch up on university work.

  • If ever I need any support, whether that be personal or work based, there is always somebody to talk to.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider is very helpful if you ever have any queries and are always there to support you. There are many ways to contact them and get the answer you may need, as well as them providing support for you if you need it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As I am in my first year of the programme, the subjects I am doing will be beneficial in the future of my career, but at present they don't seem to apply too much.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The company hold an annual ball of which everyone gets invited to, so it is a great way of meeting new people within the business. They also hold numerous talks throughout the year to inform you how the business is doing.

  • Yes

  • It is a really enjoyable and friendly place to work, you are treated fairly and all aspects of the work are very interesting.

  • Ensure that you be yourself and be confident in what you are saying. Look up plenty about the company and make sure you know what the job you are applying for entails.
