  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job on a day-to-day basis can change a lot. But it involves me looking at the project I am assigned to and, what area of work am assigned to. From this I would open the relevant CAD software to complete the work on, any questions I have I would speak to another member of staff for assistance. If there is anything project related I would speak to management to understand what wants completing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since I've started my job role I learnt everything from scratch so everything was new for me. So I have learn a wide range of new skills both technical and social, along with this the current placement I am on is teaching me new skills about my industry outside my specific job role. These skills will be useful for my job when it comes to understanding how everything works.

  • I enjoy my workplace it is varying, and the jobs are interesting and changing from each other. One of my training providers is fantastic and, is helping me with everything I asked one way or another which is good. My other training provider I have had a range of issues with which has made my programme more difficult than it has needed to have been.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is structured well, but it has required a lot of working around. This is because, the programme hasn't been fully relevant around my job role so it has required working around that for me to gain experience etc. for certain criteria. Other than that the help I've got to complete this has been good.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the qualification am working towards isn't directly impacting my role at work, more of helping indirectly. In the sense that the course is more for people who complete more hands on work task, mine is office based. But the knowledge is relevant for some task at my job role which is where the qualification knowledge becomes more useful.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Ricardo to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think if someone is interested in the engineering world the company I work with is a good one. This is because, it is a branch of from a range of other engineering related companies with a range of different expertise within it. There is also chance for other experiences within the company if the area of the company you are working in doesn't feel relevant to yourself.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Ricardo?
  • When it comes to applying for the company it is important that research is done to understand what the true company is, and not just the name from face value. Along with this there are recruitment events which are good to meet people that someone applying might end up working with.
