1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Assisting the lead project engineer on one of the 4 major projects transport for london is currently working on. In more detail I was working on the new cable routing.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The majority of skills I have learnt are to do with communication, this includes leading, team work, understanding the dynamics of the team as well as body language.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

In the first year is was a bit tough as you will need to able to pick whatever work your new team is doing but also the company was going through a big change. The second year was far more exciting and more interesting.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

First year, the company was going through major changes and roles and responsibilities between senior members kept on being handed and taken away, a lot of confusion. Second year once the company was settled there was a structure created which has been far more efficient than the year before.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received a lot of support from all my colleagues especially from my line manager and placement managers.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I did not get as much support as I thought I would get but it is nothing personal as I didn't really need the support. However when I did ask for assistance the support either came too late or never came.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has helped a little bit but overall I do not think it has greatly improved my performance in the working environment.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is more extra-curricular activities than I can think off the top of my head. For those all love football, there is a 6 a side tournament which is played every Thursday. There is a jogging club, yoga, cycling and many more!

9a. Would you recommend Transport for London to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

It is a well respected company around the world as well as it has an friendly environment which emphasises on the important of not getting the job done without stress but that is just one of the important reasons why I would recommend.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?

Do your research! Go on the TFL website and understand the Values TFL holds. Once you learn the key values it is important to stress these while applying, whether it is on your C.V or in an interview.
