  • Producing CAD drawings, Health and Safety Documents, Pre-Construction information, STATS searches, Reinforcement Drawings and Bar Schedules, Calculations.

  • I have learnt quite a lot of new skills which mainly entails using AutoCAD

  • My employers are very happy to help me when I am stuck

  • I am happy with the support I am receiving from my training provider

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • At the current stage in the course it is not helpful as i do not use Hydraulics at my work, however the modules to come (Structural Design) will be very helpful.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is occasionally evening events which help to fill my CPD requirement for the CIHT, which will help me to gain the Incorporated Engineer qualification.

  • Yes

  • Kier provide a good career path for young engineers which entails gaining new qualifications whilst learning on the job.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Kier Group?
  • If you are looking for a career in engineering but would also like to carry on gaining qualifications then the Kier Apprenticeship scheme is something worth looking into.
