  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My program is fairly well structured. I have regular reviews at my training provider and have paper work in order to track our progress.I have experienced recent disruption due to tutors leaving my training provider. However this disruption could not be avoided and i believe the management of the training facility are trying their best to resolve this issue.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive very good support from my employer and regularly get asked questions regarding college. Regular meetings are held with all apprentices at the facility to talk to a former apprentice regarding training and work. Furthermore this means that we can regularly talk to a familiar face regarding all aspects of our program. Also yearly appraisals are held in order to monitor progress and make sure all apprentices are meeting their targets.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive regular support from my provider in day to day activities, this can include guidance, demonstrations or just motivation to see out a task or learn a certain aspect of the subject. Also each attendee of the training provider is given a progress sheet so that they can see the progress they are making. This is monitored and should any additional support be needed it is offered.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel the qualification will help me greatly in the role i perform at work. Learning how to weld and read drawings not only helps me in my role, but it also helps me understand the role of other employee's employed around the company. Also topics like engineering mathematics help further my understanding of certain calculations designers and engineers need to do, in order to make certain parts of structures are safe.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of varied activities outside of the work place that William Hare organise and that apprentices and employees can get involved in. For example i play in a charity 6 a side football tournament every year which is organised by the company. There are also other events such as; Quizzes, charity fun runs and family days held in the summer. Also i am STEM Ambassador, meaning that i get directly involved in recruitment and attend opening evenings and careers fairs, something i particularly enjoy doing as it provides more people awareness of the industry i work in. This role is available to most employees and is a great extra-curricular activity.
