  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Construction, maintenance and removal of overhead electrical lines and housing service electrics. Involves working at height, manual handling and ground skills e.g. constructing cable devices.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since the beginning of my training, I have learned plenty of new skills such as climbing poles to access work positions, methods of handling large objects, awareness of safety features, use of tools and identifying them, work procedures and mandatory documents e.g. risk assessments.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • There is a large majority of practical work involved, with a wide range of different tasks within the overhead lines roles. Includes physical fitness and strength gained. Everyday there is always something new to do or somewhere new to travel to on the job, and communicate with customers within a great team you work with.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our programme is clearly in sighted with consistent notifications and news from the training team and any tasks/surveys or work based tasks needed doing.

  • High level of support from regional manager and team managers with organising arrangements, mentoring and progress monitoring

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive sufficient support from assessors, mentors and other experienced trainees about how and where I should go forwards giving me necessary foresight into the expected work.

  • Sufficient insight to improve and correct evidence submission
