  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I assist lawyers on various matters, both contentious and transactional. My role ranges from admin based tasks to legal work such as negotiations and corresponding directly with clients.

  • I have learnt an inordinate amount of new skills, and continue to learn and develop these each day. Mainly I have learnt more about communication styles, both written and oral, as well as increasing my confidence. Importantly, my legal knowledge is enhanced every day.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme. It is varied, challenging and rewarding.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme has recently been restructured so I now feel that the type of work we are able to do is more varied and challenging. We have a great support system and this helps to ensure we continue to get the most from the programme.

  • So much!

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support from our university could be better. The teaching is to a good standard however the admin and organization is not always communicated and it makes it hard to balance the study element sometimes.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It provides me with a good level of legal knowledge which is very helpful to my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Lots! My firm has lots of social events and activities going on; from sporting teams and clubs to music and arts. There is something for everyone!

  • Yes

  • It is a great place to work, with a friendly environment. People are welcoming and supportive and I really feel that I am in a good place to qualify and learn from some of the best in the industry.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Burges Salmon?
  • Make sure that you do your research and be prepared to get involved in all areas of the firm, both work wise but also socially. We are a friendly and people focused firm and this is important to maintain.
