  • My day to day role is a building services mechanical engineer working on a project delivering specific mechanical packages, this entails learning the technical detail, working with operatives on site and dealing with sub-contractors

  • Each day brings a new challenge and no 2 days are the same, the first year of my traineeship I learnt the fundamentals of building services engineering and each moment from there onwards has been honing my skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much enjoy the programme, some days are toucher than others however this is what helps develop you as an engineer and develop you as a person.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I couldn't ask for more in terms of organisation, I have a personalised, detailed development plan with tells me the exact steps I need to complete in order to become a senior engineer.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We have a learning and development manager that is willing you help anyone with anything they may be struggling with, for example I was worried about my maths prior to starting my university course with the company so the learning and development team supported me with maths tutoring.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • From additional free tutoring funded by the company to study days away from work when required, in terms of company support I could not ask for a great deal more.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel as though the training provided was good however could have been better, I definitely learnt more whilst working on the project itself.
