  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Non-Destructive testing involves testing components for defects both on the surface and sub-surface using methods such as Penetrant testing, Magnetic particle testing, Eddy current testing, Digital Radiography and Ultrasonic testing. This involves the preparation of parts before a test is carried out, knowledge of quality standards and regulations and a skilled proficiency in defectology/manufacturing processes.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has given me a greater appreciation of defectology and manufacturing processes that are key to understanding how defects may arise and also where the most likely problem areas on a component are. this allows me to more accurately diagnose and define indications of defects and thus give the correct classification.
