  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I generally work as a cashier, serving customers. I also make sure my work area is tidy and face up the shop where I can and I also have been trained on date alert where i check all the dates on chilled produce.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt that I have very good customer service and learnt a lot of new things and terms that I didnt know, I have thoroughly enjoyed learning the date checking and enjoy the shifts I do that on.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the course I am on I am learning so much and am thankful that I have had the opportunity to do it as I am one of the older colleagues at work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very well organised and structured as I know exactly what I need to get done before the next visit and if I ever have a problem I know that I can always contact my trainer

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do receive support from my employer as it has opened up new opportunities for me and they are trying to help me grow more in the business, and lately I have found it much easier to speak to my manager about the course.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive so much as they are there whenever I need help with anything and when I email work over I get responses as soon as they can, and the visits are so helpful

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel it helps a lot especially with the communication section and how to communicate with certain customers and staff, and it has helped me realise that I have very good customer service

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I wouldn't say there are many but I have helped out our talking shop rep on charity events and they have been trying to set up a time for colleagues to have an evening out together.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Iceland to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Especially in the shop I work in the staff are so friendly and we sell some really good products that aren't available anywhere else. I have loved working at Iceland and see myself there for many years to come


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland?
  • I would say be yourself, confident and happy. Its scary starting somewhere new but when I started I was made to feel right at home
