  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Not very much, company does not give you the time to effectively complete the course. No set time aside to do it. No extra time towards the end to prepare for your exams or prepare your presentations. All learning done through paper work, hard to remember as not everyone’s style of learning. Program was not linked to our jobs within Iceland. Sometimes found condescending.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Not very well. All paper based. Lifetime meant to see you every four weeks. Saw mine every 6/7. Fell behind quickly due to cancellations on there part. Was never introduced to portal till the end. Had three different trainers over a year. Had to print all work yourself. Website always crashed.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Limited. They gave us 3.5 hours a week but this wouldn’t cover the weeks you had visits. They didn’t give any extra time at end for presentations. I’ve had to do in my own time on days off. It was up to you to plan on the training. Managers never took it as a priority.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • First trainer not much, she’d set the work and that be it, never felt it was explained properly. Would be frowned apon for not remembering it even though explain several times I don’t learn that way. Second trainer was more supportive but left before finished course. He helped me catch up quickly and wasn’t condescending as knew I knew it.

    3/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Not at all. All things already knew or do not apply to our work place. Don’t see the benefit as experience will always overlook qualifications. Don’t see any personal gain as just caused stress to complete it.

    1/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Nope.

    1/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Iceland to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Family feel is lovely, when have correct manager the store runs smoothly and effectively and can be stress free. The way Iceland is structured with hours needs revising.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland?
  • Iceland has more benefits for part time staff as due to hours going up and down hard to keep full time hours. Need to have good relationship with manager and always be honest with them.
