  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • For my placement, I have been on the PMO team on client site. The project was based in London so I got to travel there every week. I was usually given work each day. Mainly excel and powerpoints. I had to send out newsletters weekly and organise events. I also got to shadow the networking team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have improved my networking and communication skills. I have also improved my technical skills. I improved skills in Jira, confluence and excel. I would of liked to improve my programming skills and problem solving skills but unfortunately work was unable in that area. My time management skills were also developed.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The work I was given was important to the client however, it wasn't in the area that I most succeed in. Everyone in my team was really nice and helpful. They explained everything and tried to give me work that would interest me. Overall I really enjoyed my placement and would recommend.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The training we were provided with was very good. We are treated as normal University students rather than apprentices. PwC has offered us a lot of support such as Career Coach and a buddy. We have also got a lot of contacts to reach out to if we run into any trouble. As it is the first year of the programme, there was some confusion in terms of timings, however they were all resolved.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There was a lot of support from the employer. We have been given a lot of people to reach out too. Everyone has been happy to help when needed too. My team have been helpful in supporting me and went above what is expected to see if I was happy

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • PwC priorities university studies. They ensure we are focusing on the qualifications and don't mix work and university together. They regularly check in and make sure we are doing ok. They try not and arrange events during term time so we aren't missing lectures. They give us ample time off between uni and work

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As I am only at the beginning of my training and the nature of the work, my training isn't helping me currently. I hope it will when I further advance in my career. Some of the knowledge does help on a day to day basis and I am able to help my team with things I learnt and they don't understand.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • PwC as a firm is very sociable. We are invited to all the socials just as a normal employee would. These are great for networking. PwC also take part in volunteering, with a lot of the socials being charity events. They also encourage us to take part at extra- curricular activities while at uni.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • PwC is very generous to their employees. They provide all staff with laptops and phones as well as ample benefits. The employees at PwC are always happy to help whether you ask a Director or a associate. They are a very good firm for growing your career and finding an area which interests you.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • The application process changes on each intake. For interviews, I would recommend researching PwC and using the STAR techie when answering questions. If you are successful, remember no question is a stupid question to ask you buddy. For example, "Whats the dress code" or "What happens at lunch time". Everyone is happy to answer all your questions and concerns so don't worry.
