  • I work on medium to long term developmental projects in the steel plant. The role is an interface between R&D and application to bring in new technologies to advance the department.

  • I have learned various skilled sets including proficiency with data mining and analysis, knowledge on liquid steel metallurgy and refractories, organisation and meeting skills.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed the apprenticeship programme.

  • The apprenticeship programme was well organised involving training in college, rotation in departments and shift work.

  • During the apprenticeship I received lots of support from my employer with regular reviews.

  • No

  • At the moment Tata steel are in a difficult position and would not recommend a friend to work for a company in an unstable position. Without this uncertainty I would recommend a friend.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tata Steel?
  • The scale of operations and processes are enormous so ensure you get to see as many areas as possible to build an understanding of how the business works as a whole.
