Working within a team comprised of fully qualified professionals as well as other apprentices/young people to produce technical designs and drawings for structural steel framed projects
I feel that I have learned and developed countless skills both academically and as a person. I now have an advanced understanding of design and modelling practices in structural engineering. The role also requires communication within the team, hence I feel my team working and communication skills have improved.
I thoroughly enjoy the program and genuinely feel like I am fully engaged and learn something new every day.
The program has a set structure which is outlined from the beginning of the apprenticeship and followed for the duration of the program - this includes all aspects of the apprenticeship, including pay, academic progression/qualifications, and movement around different departments within the company.
All apprentices within the company are assigned a mentor who will support them in any way necessary. The company as a whole is also very supportive of apprentices and and tries to promote apprenticeships as much as possible.
As well as the day-release, one day a week, to university to cover the content required for part of the apprenticeship qualification, monthly reviews also take place with the training provider to assess progress towards the qualifications.
The content covered as part of the qualification is directly related to the day-to-day role and helps me have a better understanding of the processes we use.
There are many extra-curricular and charity events/activities to get involved in within the work place, including: football matches, dragon boat racing, summer BBQs, 'Tough Mudder' events and more. Most of these are also raise money for charity.

My experience working for William Hare has been fantastic, not only developing my skills as a professional and helping my achieve my qualifications, but also as a genuinely enjoyable role.
Enthusiasm and a willing to learn/develop is key as well as a passion for engineering.
