Work Experience student Review

I spent a week working at Pinsent Masons. Daily tasks involved research, shadowing trainees and typical office tasks. Inside the firm, I spoke to solicitors and gained a greater understanding of what the typical work of a solicitor is.

I have learnt what a solicitor does on a daily basis and now have an excellent insight into what working in a commercial law firm involves. By using legal databases, my research skills have improved. Additionally, I now understand what it is like to work in a professional environment.

I thoroughly enjoyed the week; everyone was exceedingly friendly and kind. Lots of people work together on projects and there is a very supportive company culture.

I received frequent feedback from the trainees on my work, which gave me confidence and helped me to improve.

The week was extremely well organised as each work experience placement student was assigned to a different trainee every day. In the mornings we attended presentations which gave us an overview of practising law. The whole week was beneficial as we experienced many different practice areas within the law firm.

The whole experience was really enjoyable and gives you an excellent overview of what it is like to work in a commercial law firm. It is a great opportunity to understand the typical work of trainees . I would recommend this experience to anyone who is considering pursuing a career in law.
