  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • i am a fabricator welder which insist of the following job roles such as; WELDING GAS CUTTING GRINDING FABRICATING on a day to day basis i will mainly be fabrication beams or welding beams it can be either of the two depending on what the supervisor wants you to do

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • i have learnt many skills while working here such as welding, gas cutting, grinding, craning, manual handling, and communication efficiency with work colleagues

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • it was hard to get use to at the start of the apprenticeship but i gradually got use to it and started to enjoy it making new friends and learning new skills

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • it is well structured at work but not so much at collage as it has been up and down for the last 2 years with teachers leaving and then not having no teachers which has then put us back on work and our nvq work

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • we get as much support as we need here if we ever have a problem we can always seek advise or guidance from supervisor or management which is very helpful

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • we received a little bit of support but because we have had no teachers for a lot of the time and assessors for our NVQ it has made it really hard to make any progression on completing our work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • it does help a lot because i know what outcomes it can help me wit when i leave and want to move to bigger and better things in my career.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes we have the odd event or football tournament that work do which is good because it is sociable and a laugh and they also do a lot of charity advents such as walks and runs.

  • 9a. Would you recommend William Hare to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • because you learn a lot of good skills and ability's for later on in life and when you come to completing your apprenticeship you have good qualifications to take you to the next level


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to William Hare?
  • i would say you have to be well organised and equipped for the job. and differently expect a shock to the system what will take time to get use to
