My role is a data analyst. My day-to-day tasks involve producing regular reports for our senior stakeholders and producing presentations for visual aid. I also did a variety of projects, currently I'm helping a global bank on a data migration project. I interact daily with the client at their site.
I have learned a lot of different skills since starting such as communication skills including improving my professional and business vocabulary, my excel skills have improved as well as powerpoint skills. I have also learned sql as a part of the database training I completed upon joining the company which was great.
I enjoy the work that I do despite it sometimes being challenging. My team are really nice and understanding the fact that I came straight from college. The company values match my personal values such as punctuality and diversity. I did not expect this job to be as enjoyable - it exceed my expectations.
When I joined the company I had a one week induction course where the basics of how the company operates where explained which was useful for a new starter. I did a database training which was useful for my projects. You also get a lot of support from the senior members of the team.
I feel like my team and especially my line manager are very supportive of my apprenticeship. They understand it is hard to juggle between the job and studies but they understand it. I also have a mentor within the company who did a similar programme and he always listens and helps me.
Whereas my team are very supportive I feel like the training provider on the other hand is sometimes hard to get a hold of and it seems like they only do things to tick the box and they do not really care about how well you are progressing and whether you are learning
I feel like my studies directly go in line with my daily role as a lot of modules overlap with my job - such as database basics. I did the training for it as well which made the studies easier too. It is also great to be able to put the theory into practice.
We have a lot of different company events such as annual christmas party and a summer party. We also have different clubs and societies such as the LGBT society or the football society that I am a part of. You can also volunteer in local schools with your team which we do once a year.
Yes
I would definitely recommend it because you get to learn a lot and the people are very nice and supportive. It is challenging at times which is a good thing as it makes you push yourself. The education is also sponsored which is a great benefit and good alternative to university.
Make sure you do not have any spelling mistakes on your CV and the cover letter. The CV needs to be 1 page long and the cover letter should be tailored to the company you are applying to - you can't reuse it for another application. Do research on the role and company before your interview.
