  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day basis is always different as I work at a country park meaning there are a lot of different outlets and things to do. My job ranges from making pizzas to serving coffee to preparing and working for a wedding! I also answer wedding enquires from different websites and answer brides/grooms questions leading up to their big day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to make pizzas, open and close a business, how to answer wedding emails and enquires, how to deal with customers and the public on a day to day basis, deal with different problems or questions. I have improved my team working skills and learnt to be more of a leader with independence.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot but it does get stressful on the weekends when we get extremely busy in each different outlet. Depending on which outlet and team members I'm working with depends on how much I enjoy my day at work. I much prefer working with someone else that I get along with than by myself or with someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme in terms of the learning side is very well structured and I get along with my learner well and I am doing very well at the work set! On the other hand the actual work is not organised enough and sometimes stresses everyone out a little too much for it to be enjoyable.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my line manager and fellow colleagues which I really appreciate and makes my work experience a lot better for myself which pushes me to be better at my work. My managers are excellent in making sure everyone is listened to and making sure their is opportunities for everyone.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive so much support from my learner and I'm in a position with my work where I'm ahead at the minute so I will have about 4 months to practice towards my final assessments which takes a lot of stress off! I am really enjoying learning with Lifetime.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It teaches me a lot to do with my job that sometimes I maybe don't need to know but its always there if I do need it, it teaches me professional values that I can use whilst serving customers and how I should serve customers and treat situations to make it a better experience for everyone.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There isn't any extra curricular activities as such but as we are a country park we offer things like boats and things which we can use. We have staff benefits to get discounts on various things which is very useful and also have free use of the leisure centres throughout Parkwood.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Parkwood Leisure to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a great way to learn and work your way up into a business, meaning that once you have a starting point you could eventually work your way into being a manager and beyond, its great to see progression in yourself and being able to become a respected team member.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Parkwood Leisure?
  • Make sure you spend enough time completing your work to its best ability, always try your hardest to stand out and be noticed! Make sure everyone knows you're willing to work and opportunities will follow almost definitely! No matter the amount of struggle you will get there in the end.
