Going to college, completing practical and technical units. As well as going to the depot and covering different aspects of the depot. The teams at the depot allow us to work across different types of jobs meaning we are learning knowledge of the trains as well as developing skills at the depot.
I have learnt many new skills whilst being at the depot and at the college. Teamwork and communication is very important when working in engineering and working at the depot in a team. I have learnt new knowledge and skills about the train and how the company works as a whole and a team.
I enjoy my programme very much, each day I do not know what I am going to learn or what skills or knowledge I am going to develop. I feel that the programme shall give me a stepping stone into the real world and allow me to work across the company and improve skills.
I believe that my course is well structured and planned with the training team at Eurostar. The team take all of our comments on board and how they are able to improve the programme as a whole. I feel that the structure is well planned and able to move forward strong.
As an apprentice I receive a lot of support from my employer of them helping me with regards to my college and apprenticeship as a whole. I feel that if I require any support with any problem they are able to provide me with as much support as I require.
When working towards our training for our qualifications our employers provide as much support on pushing us forward to try and achieve the highest level as possible. I want to try and achieve a degree level from the apprenticeship and move onto to higher education once finishing the apprenticeship scheme.
I feel that the qualification is needing to be more suited to the railway and trains as a whole as at the moment it is not very specific to those topics. The qualification is suited to the railway but focuses on engineering as a whole generally, but I believe it should be more tailored to the railway.
Yes as a company they have many different types of social activities which allow employees to meet other people across the depot and company. There are many social events and sports teams across Eurostar as they try and get as many people involved to bring the company together as a whole.
Yes
Eurostar as a whole is deemed to be one of the best rail companies in the world and across the UK. The way that Eurostar travels across Europe and throughout the UK providing a high speed link and a high level of customer service shows how such a strong company bind together to provide an amazing service.
The tips and advice I would give to people applying for Eurostar is to be themselves and act natural and don't try acting someone that you aren't. It is good to be honest and if you don't know certain information or knowledge be honest and don't say you know one thing when you don't.
