  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an inbound agent who helps business customers with any broadband, telephone or email problems that they have with us. I also help customers with any order issues that they are having. For example getting a new line emplaced etc. I can also help customers with any issues or queries that they have on their bills.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned many different skills from joining BT. I think probably the biggest skill I have learned to develop is speaking with the public. this has been a big learning curve from me as because this is my first job I haven't ever really spoken to the public before, and so from speaking to many people every day my communication skills have improved a lot.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot and enjoy being able to do my job the majority of the time, however still getting time offline and be able to do the written side of my apprenticeship as well. the programme as a whole has been very good and enjoy learning new things while on the phone or offline.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think my programme is very structured and like how I can work up to a month at a time before getting any offline time to work on my SVQ . I also like how I was firstly just trained on faults and then later on in my time here was up skilled to do both orders and billing as well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employers. while on the phone to a customer if I am ever stuck or unsure of what to do there is always a coach that I can speak to about this who will help me with the problem. also with my SVQ I get help when I am not understanding something or need some help.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • my training provider gives my lots of help while working toward my qualification. whenever I am stuck or don't understand. I get instant support. the support that I receive is not just skimmed over and whenever I ask a question I wont be left to get on with it until I understand what I need to do fully.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think my training helps when I am doing my role for example it goes over how to keep secure and safe while online or dealing with sensitive information all the way to how to sit correctly while working at my desk. I think it is very relevant and have learned loads from it.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are some extra curricular activities such as nights out. I am also able to volunteer outside of work for 3 working days a year. other than this there are other things that I can volunteer for that I don't get paid for example there was a night where we could take calls for children in need.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • it is a brilliant company that does many different things including broadband, phone lines, BT sport and more to an excellent standard. it is a business that is growing all the time and I believe is a great place to work. while working here I have always felt at home and appreciated.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • if I was to give someone advice I would say just to be yourself. that when applying everyone is actually very nice so you don't need to stress. I would say that we like people who work hard but are also a team player. but I would strongly recommend working for BT as I believe its a great place to work .
