  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My daily role includes working in a maintenance team to carry repairs and general maintenance on vehicles. We also carry out any improvements and some assembly. Working in the environment it is fairly busy but I enjoy working under pressure and having a challenge to get a task or tasks done

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have got better at general tool work and using tools. I have also got better at working under pressure and working to tight deadlines. other skills I have got better at include working well with others in a team and also problem solving whilst not having much experience in the field

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot. I enjoy working in teams and having a heavy work rate as it makes time pass quicker. I also enjoy the learning at the ability to be able to progress and get a sense of achievement and accomplish set tasks that I enjoy doing

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme in college Isn’t always the best, the teachers are not always organised and prepared for lessons. Also at work I sort of just turn up to get experience however there’s not really any plan for where I need to be or who I need to be with.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I always have someone to talk to or ask if I ever need help understanding how something works or how to do something. My employer don’t really put me forward in structured training outside of college for any extra qualifications however they always try to answer any questions or show me where things are

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My support is really good, I got a first point of contact who answers any questions I have almost immediately by mobile, I can also email him if I have any queries or concerns and I feel comfortable to do so if I needed to. I also feel that they help me set goals to achieve

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • A lot of the skills I have learnt at college are really relevant to what I have to do in the work place. For example Certain use of tools and reading drawings as well as team bonding and working in a team activities where I get to put my skills into practice

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a lot of events that get sent to myself and people around the company through email. It helps identify others in the company that have similar interests for example I play in a small 5 a side football team with people from the company and we really enjoy it

  • 9a. Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The apprenticeship gets me some good qualifications and knowledge that can easily be transferred into future roles. I feel like I have learnt a lot and I earn good money whilst doing so with a stable and steady career path lined out ahead of me therefore would recommend anyone that would enjoy a challenge in a good working environment


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
  • I would suggest and advise preparing for the pre interview assessments and trying your best to work well under pressure. Although the tests may not seem difficult it’s always good to stay calm and focus making sure you stay polite and always prepare for the next Stage of each process
