Project Management New Associate Review

My job as part of the Account Management team is working as part of the Sales Operations for HMRC. I record any sales HMRC make and then progress them through stages until they are ready to be signed off. I interact internally with someone else on the Account Management team who also works on HMRC, externally I work with people who operate HMRC outside of Sales Operations.

I have completed my Level 3 Software Engineering degree and recently finished my Level 4. We have been offered a PPSM Generalist Certificate course which I have also enrolled in. Working at Accenture has helped me develop my communication skills as well as progressing my general work skills. As I came straight into an Apprenticeship from school with no prior work experience I have learnt a lot about daily working life.

I thoroughly enjoy working at Accenture. Once I moved to the PPSM capability and joined the Account Management team I found working here very enjoyable. The work I do is challenging and keeps me busy, I get on great with all my team and we work well together and because of these factors I now take part in some important work - this makes me feel like an integral part of the team rather than an Apprentice.

The program here at Accenture is well structured. I am now coming towards the end of my second year. From the beginning we were given an initial induction called Bootcamp which was 6 weeks of training before starting our roles. Once I joined my role I was then doing work from my first day. My line manager sat with me for a week and showed me how to do everything and then set me off. If I had any questions she was always there to ask and guide me in the right direction. Because we also have college as well as work we are permitted study days which we can use when and where we want which is great if we have deadlines coming up. Everyone who joins is also assigned a career counselor to ensure everything is going okay and to steer your career in the right direction by giving vital advice. Within the team everyone is assigned their own work but in the case somebody is off we can all do each others jobs and all pitch in where we can.

We receive a good amount of support from our training provider. When it comes to College all we have to do is email our tutor or ask for help when we're struggling with work. However at work there are a lot of different people who can support you including your line manager, career Councillor or 'buddy' and at the same time getting help and asking questions is encouraged which is good.

My employer gives me a lot of support. My manager always helps me with any work I'm struggling with, she also gives me any time I need towards my college work which helps with when I have a lot due at once. Mentors are also very supportive towards your well being and career. The attitude towards support is very positive.

My qualification so far has not benefited me in the work I do for my role. This is because the college work is all mainly Coding based and when I pushed for my role the main reason I chose it was because it did not involve coding. However in the next year of college we will be covering Project Management which should benefit me in my role and allow me to put theory into practice.

Accenture offers lots of opportunities outside of work. There are many types of events that get ran which people can go to or help get involved with organizing. We are given a certain number of charity days we can use each year to volunteer for events at places such as schools and also activities within the local community.

I would recommend Accenture to a friend as it is a great company to work for. The structure for Apprentices is great and offers lots of chances for career progression, the salary is really good for an apprentice, there are also a vast amount of roles people can go into depending on their interests.

I would advise people to be as honest as possible and just be themselves when applying, I would only recommend if they had an interest in technology. If they do then the actual application process isn't too bad with a simple application questionnaire followed by a video interview then an assessment center. Accenture are very open minded and hire a great range of people. I would have like to been told to do a bit more research on Accenture before going for my interview to show I had a good understanding of the company.
