  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Everyday varies depending on the amount of cars in. The days are busy and I start with shadowing qualified and competent mechanics and learning skills from them. My main responsibilities at the moment are taking photos for evidence of me partaking in jobs. I feel that I am trusted to do some small jobs on my own.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since the first day of my apprenticeship I have gained experience on the tools. The team get me involved and show me what to do making my communication skills better as well as my understanding of the job and what it requires I’ve learnt more about the cars and common faults

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme is going well and I can say I really enjoy it. I have the best team around and they help me with my logbook and teach me what I need to know. I get a lot of time to focus on my qualifications and enjoy learning new things

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme can be a little bit disjointed at times but on a whole it goes well. I like the fact I know what dates my work is due and I like having targets to follow set by myself and my employer. I feel that this helps me and motivated me

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer as a whole give me a lot of support. The technicians I am working with know their job well and know the cars well and advise me on common things. The cars are well made but the team make my job easier and help me when I need

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider often check on my progress and help me by setting tasks to carry out along side working. I feel that they are easy to get hold of when and if I need to contact them. As well as keeping me updated with my progress through my apprenticeship

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like my training provider give me all the relevant knowledge I need on the company making it easier for me to do my job role. I learn about the cars and their makeup as well as common services that need to be taken out on the cars as and when

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As far as extra curricular activities go we all like to get together after work sometimes and go for a drink together it keeps the team motivation up as well as giving us funny stories to talk about whilst in the workshop. It’s good as we all get along

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend it if you enjoy being busy as it makes time go quickly whilst at work. It keeps me motivated and on my toes as I stay busy and enjoy a challenge. Tasks can vary and I get paid well for the job I do as well as gain knowledge


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • If I was to apply again I would make sure I kept a professional manner when speaking with the company right from interviews and telephone interviews. As first impressions count I would also stay smart and sharp as the bmw group like to maintain a professional and smart reputation that has taken years to build
