  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves dealing with clients and providing automated solutions for them. Problem solving and communication with the team are required on a daily basis. We use a number of automation tools such as UiPath, Blue Prism and NICE RTI to automate mundane processes to free employees up for more exciting work. In the morning, the team has a stand-up where everyone gives an overview of what they did yesterday, what they are doing today and what blockers or successes they had. We use Microsoft Teams to communicate with each other on interesting things we have found.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills, whether they be technical or inter-personal. For the technical skills, I have learnt to work in different ways of working such as agile and sprints and gained a wealth of knowledge on coding best practices. As for inter-personal, I have improved my communication skills immensely when liaising with a client or discussing issues with a member of my own team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am thoroughly enjoying my programme as it has given me an opportunity to attempt new things and help me come out of my shell. I initially went through the traditional degree route but I felt I was just being thrown into theory after theory and could not see where that theory was applied. I have also met some amazing and inspirational people who have given a great insight into the world of work and what is available.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is spread over a period of 4 and a half years, and due to working a full time job, you are required on-campus only for a handful of days per year as the rest of the course is taught online via e-lectures and live seminars. I feel that the online aspect is not taught as well as it could be as many of the tutors are very difficult to follow, through a mixture of English not being their 1st language and not having prior teaching experience added to the fact that is not as personal as in a classroom.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have had huge amounts of support from my manager, who is always approachable with queries. Due to having a disability, I have been able to present my requirements/needs without feeling that I am burdening someone and i feel that I am in a safe place. My needs were put in place as soon as possible.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Again, due to my disability, the university has provided copious amounts of support through a scribe during lectures, a separate room and extra time during exams. There is always someone available to contact and even if you can't find someone, each cohort of apprentices has a course representative who is in constant contact with the university on worries that the apprentices have.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • In just under a year, i have learnt so many things and been able to travel independently and see that I am capable of so much. Capgemini has given me that opportunity.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Sounds very cliche but don't be afraid to be yourself. its the little quirks and creative ideas within us that appeal to Capgemini.
