  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am part of a team called Mobile Service Management in which we manage all the mobile applications that Barclays as a bank provides to its customers. My day to day role is producing MI that gets sent to managers/CEO's, approving changes that may be potentially impacting to our services, creating changes to be implemented and attending stakeholder calls.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, studying ICT at high school and coming into this job I have been able to expand my existing skills which were at a very basic level and use work based training and other staff members to increase my skill set. I have also learnt lots of new skills that my job require me to have also though work based training and doing my day to day job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme I am currently ongoing. I feel that I am supported my managers and team mates as well as the apprenticeship team at work. I also feel that learning opportunities are widely available to me and accepted in my team who are also very happy to assist when needed with either University work or work based tasks

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe that my programme is well structured however does have some room for improvement. I feel when joining the program the college/university based aspect of the job was rather unorganised and potentially could have been better. saying this, the position I have ended up in is a better situation that I was told I was going to be offered and I feel that Barclays supported and encouraged me to progress with my course.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive above and beyond support from my employer. I strongly believe that my line manager, team mates and other Barclays colleagues are there to support me and are happy to assist whenever needed. I receive constant support from everyone around me and always have contacts if I ever did feel unsupported

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel that I am provided a massive amount of support from my ELT at the university, they keep in regular contact with me and are more than happy to answer any queries/worries that I may have. I however sometimes feel some of the lectures may be able to provide more support to their part time students such as myself

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Currently I feel that the course I am doing has provided me with some basic knowledge that at come into use In the future however going into second year at university I feel that the training course will be more tailored to the job role I have and allow me to use the skills in my daily work life

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have lots of extra curricular activities at work that colleagues are more than welcome to join such as football teams, tennis teams and comedy clubs. I myself partake in a boot camp that is run at the gym on site. This has allowed me to expand my networking and get to know new people

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Barclays offer an amazing working environment for al types of people. They are also very flexible with the way that you want to work and are happy to adapt to suit you. They also offer support to you if ever needed and have a dynamic and modern way of working


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • One tip that I would give to anyone wanting a job would be to allow your personality to be expressed and projected. As well as a professional environment Barclays is massively friendly and want colleagues to interact with each other to provide a happy and positive place to work, showing your personality is an attractive trait for many teams
