Depending on the project I'm on I will go into the office it's based in at 9am and for example currently I am IT change analyst. There are sometimes TAG events where I will meet up with the apprentices from my year and the year above, as well are all spread in different locations with different companies.
Yes my java skills have expanded, also my web development skills have expanded as I have gained training in CSS and html.
They are quite organized in helping us if there are issues, there is just some struggle being unexperienced apprentices when getting project roles which means we can end up on bench for months. They are very understanding of our work and school balance too.
They have a good support system set up, it's just that because there are so many people allocated to us it's hard to know who to go to for problems and who you're meant to keep updated and how often.
The university understands we have a lot t balance, but as we only go in once a week everything is crammed in one day and we get over-saturated with information all at once.
Sometimes depending on the role I'm doing what I'm learning at university will help me at work and vice versa.
Yes there are constantly tag events, breakfast meeting and other networking events on offer weekly.
Yes
It's a rare and great opportunity to not only work and get an education, but also be part of a company that fully understands the difficulty of balancing this and does their best to make the next 3 years manageable.
Just be yourself at interviews, don't be shy, the way you'll get far in this company is through networking and the people you meet that could help you in the future.
