  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work on client side day-to-day often staying away as a Software Developer building a solution in an agile manger using the various Microsoft platforms. During working hours I predominately work for the client along with employee tasks. I try to avoid meetings as I enjoy the development side much more. University work is mostly done of an evening.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Within the role I have learnt many skills, both interpersonal and technical. Technically I have learnt a lot about better software development practices while writing code and thinking in a more logical and simplistic approach. The Microsoft Azure and PowerPlatform have also been core skills picked up as these are the products/platforms/tools used to deliver our client.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The opportunities from working in a large IT consultancy and with people who are willing to teach and share experience are the most valuable parts of the apprenticeship. These moments are what I enjoy the most and gets my out of bed every morning. I hope the do the same for others as I grow and learn myself.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The organisation and structure vary from the university side between each course. Some are very well structured with plenty of time leeway while others are poorly structured which makes it confusing to keep up with mandatory assessments and tutorial agendas. From the employer side, again parts are well structured and organised (such as the introductory months) while that lacks quickly as time progresses.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am well supported by my intimidate colleges, reviewer, and managers from the day-to-day business but Apprenticeship management I have not needed to deal with to comment on their support. They were certain there me when I first joined and I've heard others go to them for support with varied opinions.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have not specifically asked for support but on a general level, the staff have been easily contactable and relatively quick to respond. Certainly during evening lectures, most of the teaching assistance's have been prompt and capable to answer our question and give additional explanations to aid our understanding.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The content learnt is making an impact on my day-to-day work but not in any significant way. That is partly because of the specific work I do and the fact I am a more practical (see and play with it in action) learner where my job teaches me more to aid my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yep, my employer have many events, activities, and initiatives to bond more as a team and network with others. I would say though that I don't have a lot of time the attend or take part as my work and university schedules are too busy. I do try to find the balance but will always entail sacrifice else where.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the Assessment Day and was comfortable with the interviews. The onboarding process was relatively smooth but work could have been improved there. The initial training with Capgemini then Aston was a great experience and wished it was for more than the two months. Better communication between new joiners and Capgemini would have really been welcomed, especially with the business unit taking you on.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Be honest and your professional self. Have fun and enjoy the experience. Show interest in the job role and industry, that's what makes you stand out. Don't worry too much about the technical skills if it's not your strong point, there are many roles within Capgemini and we aim to place you where your talents will be used and can grow.
