  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As an apprentice surveyor your day to day role can vary quiet a lot, for me it tends to be a mixture between going out on viewings with cilents, updating scdueles, assist in preparing presentations, update brochures. Theres literally no day alike, some days I could be out for most of the day, whereas some days I could just be in the office all day, however the variety helps balance out my work life.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since I have started I have learnt a lot, from being able to calauate business rates, put together tenancy schedules, development appraisals, learning how to search the freeholder on land registry, and calauting yields and income on assets. The journey of being a surveyor allows you to be constantly learning and obtaining new information and skills every single day

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy my programme as I knew I didnt want to go into full time eduation but would rather work. With that being said there no better opportunity than the one I currently am in now. I get to go along to viewings on assets worth hundreds of millions which I find really interesting and cool and not many people get to experience that especially not my age.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Well organised and structured, I know what is required of me and I am well informed of any upcoming events that I am required to attend. If there was any uncertainity of something, then I know who to turn to for assistance which is very important when starting out, as you may feel a sense of overwhelming being in such a top perfoming firm.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do recieve a lot of support from my team, espcially with the univeristy side of things if theyre things I dont undertand or unsure of theyre are more than happy to sit down with me and go through it. It also helps that what I am studying is also what I am doing in practice which means people around the business do it on a day to day basis, allowing me to gather help from them.

  • As stated above I do get support on training, and they're various session I can attend to help improve my skills and knowlegde which helps me when working towards my qualitfication of becoming a surveyor. • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the qualification does help me perform better in myjob role as I said before due to many things over lapping in what were taugt against what is done in practice. This means that I am able to apply what I am being taught in and my day to day job role which means I can excel in it.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Great working environment to be apart of I feel and that is something very important when considering a firm to work for. While I was in the application stages I attended other companies but it was Cushmans that I felt had the best work ethic and environment for me out them all which is why I would recommed.

  • Just be yourself, do your research about the company and ensure that it is something you want to do and committ to. Get as much experience and knowlegde within what you are applying for to help understand it better and also to stand out from others applying for the same role.
