  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy performing daily engineering tasks. for example designing components related to a mechanical system on CAD and then producing the technical drawing and documents to support the design. I like problem solving and looking for solutions to current defects/problems/issues. I enjoy building and getting my hands dirty and laboring on the shop floor.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a lot of organisation from the college lecturers. However at work there is little organisation, as our employer takes little involvement with our workload. I have a separate workload manager to my discipline manager so I can get tasks to do to further my knowledge. Tasks given to me sometimes are repetitive.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive enough support from HR and my workload manager. I've received support from my mentor assigned to me at the start of my current apprenticeship. However my main employer has little involvement in planning tasks to further my knowledge. However this support is received else where from my workload manager, mentor etc.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Training provider provides excellent support with work, mental health and general well being. Lecturers are very clear in explaining tasks and new learning. Lecturers are very experienced and provide excellent support when a student is struggling with the work. There is a learning gateway and library for further studies outside of lessons.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe the mechanical principles side of my qualification is going to provide the most help towards my current role in engineering. The maths is helpful as it increases my ability to perform job role related calculations. Design is also quite helpful as I learn with different types of CAD. Hydraulics and Pneumatics is also very helpful as it helps me understand it for the future,
