  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day job is selling to our clients, covering our inbound line and ensuring that anyone that calls in is transferred to the correct team/person. I also deal with sales force and make sure that leads are distributed correctly. I also fill in any admin work which needs doing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes, my ability to sell has increased drastically and I feel more confident on the phone from the training, experience and shadowing which I have done. My ability to engage with different types of customers has improved and also I now have a much greater knowledge of accountancy as a whole.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • at the moment our plan is in question as the company intraining (our apprentice provider) has gone under and as a result, we are without a programme. we are currently waiting for a new provider but this is at no fault by Sage and is entirely in trainings issue unfortunately.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As I said, the programme has no current structure as the company has gone under. when the apprenticeship was in place, yes it was organised and we knew what we needed to do but at the moment, we are without an aprprenticeship and this is going to add a few months to everything.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • plenty of support. my management team have catch up meetings with me to ensure progress it being made. we have a health and wellbeing coach which ensures we aren't getting stressed and creating plans for us. if we have any questions, they will be answered and will help me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • none as the company has gone under. when it was ongoing, it took 6 months for a contract to be signed. we sent it multiple times and every time we sent it, the documents were some how lost every time. we had no update and no marking with our qualifcations either.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • not at all as the company is no longer active. with regards to the course anyways, there wasn't any point studying the I C T aspect as it wasn't relevant to our role at all. we didn't have an opportunity to perform better as we weren't learning.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes. we have a work football team which we play on every week in the T C A S football league, we frequently as a team go out for meals where we chat and mingle. we also move over to accountex which allows us to work together and also meet clients.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Sage to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • its a great place to work, the people are friendly, the training here is second to none, we have frequent incentives on to keep morale high. the job isn't too difficult, you get out what you put in. I've never worked at a place like sage and its great.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sage?
  • be honest, make sure that you have an understanding of sage in terms of the history and where the company wants to go. be prepared to take risks and be pushed out of your comfort zones. don't take work 100% seriously and also enjoy it as we have a great laugh here.
