  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis in my role at WTW the majority of the work which I get involved in is individual calculations which involves calculating the value of pensions for the clients I work on. I also am involved in different pieces of work such as billing and creating monthly factors.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I would say that so far in my job role so far I have learned many new skills such as time management. This means that I am able to work on a number of different task at once and I am able to have these tasks complete before their due date

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy my programme to some extent as it is very different to being a sixth form and to my job at McDonalds which I worked at during sixth form and for large parts of last summer. I find the work more enjoyable as it is more varied to what I used to do at my previous job. Although tasks do occasionally become repetitive and some days do drag out

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that my programme has been organized very well as there is a defined set structure to it which has been laid out clearly. It is easy to see your progress through the apprenticeship and this is aided by having a skills coach who you meet with on a monthly basis.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Whilst I'm doing apprenticeship it does not feel any less like I am part of the team at my company and I think this is partly because if needed the company does offer a great deal of support. For example your working hours ate very flexible which allows for changes to your day to day life's such as potentially needing to leave early one day to catch a flight.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support from the training provider is very useful when working towards my qualifications. This is because for each exam we have four online tutorials and these cover the content which will be on the exam and have personally helped me to gain an understanding on some of the topics which I found more difficult.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • By gaining the qualification with the help of my training provider I feel that I am able to progress in my job role as I will be able to move to a higher level and the qualification will increase my salary which will motivate me to keep on progressing in the job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My work has lots of socials including one the last Friday of each month where there are free drinks provided in the canteen as well as a trip to the pub after. This is aswell as many other socials such as the Christmas party, pub quiz, summer social etc. I also occasionally get involved in the five a side football which is held the college sports hall next to our office.

  • 9a. Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Willis Towers Watson to a friend as I think that it is a good apprenticeship with a good qualification with also enough social activities to keep it interesting enough unlike some standard office jobs. Also the apprenticeship here could be a good alternative to going to university as it is shorter and lends you a job straight away.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • I would advise someone applying to Willis Towers Watson to be confident in the interview and to also have done research on the company in order to have something to talk about during the interview. Also coming into the interview with questions thought of already will help to make you seem interested in the job role.
